Cervical Smears
We strongly recommend that women aged
between 25 and 64 years take advantage of our cervical screening
programme. It is advisable for women aged 25 to 49 years to have a smear
taken every 3 years, and those aged 50 to 64 years to have one every 5
years. Sometimes, however, a smear has to be performed more frequently
depending upon the results of previous tests.
Women in the appropriate age group will receive regular reminders to
make an appointment with the surgery for a smear test to be carried out
– if you receive a reminder, please contact the surgery to book an
appointment with the Practice Nurse.
If you do not wish to have a cervical smear test performed, please let
us know so that our records can be updated.
