Rights and Responsibilities of
Patients
As a patient of this Practice, you have a number of rights:
• The right to confidentiality.
• The right to be treated courteously and with respect at all times.
• The right to prompt attention and the highest possible standard of
care.
• The right to make comments and suggestions about the services we
offer, and the right to lodge a complaint if you feel that the
service has not been to a satisfactory standard.
• The right to register elsewhere if you so wish (but we hope you
won’t need to use this one!).
However, in return for these rights, you also have a number of
responsibilities:
• The responsibility to treat doctors and members of staff with
courtesy and respect. As a Practice we operate a ‘zero tolerance
approach’ and anyone who is violent, aggressive or abusive to
doctors, staff or other patients will be reported to the Police and
removed from the Practice list.
• To keep appointments and to attend in good time.
• To order repeat prescriptions in good time, particularly around
bank holiday periods.
• To ensure that we are kept informed of any changes to your name,
address or telephone numbers.
• To request home visits only where they are medically necessary and
not for reasons of convenience.
• To contact the Out of Hours service only where you feel this is
necessary and not for reasons of convenience.
