Virtual Patient Group
Join our ‘Virtual’ Patient Group and help us shape the future!
We are very proud of our surgery and staff and even though we think that we do a pretty good job most of the time, we are always seeking new ways to improve our service to you. As you may be aware, Abbey Medical Practice has an excellent Patient Participation Group who meet once every three months but we realise this small group cannot be entirely representative of our 7,000 strong patient population.
So, we are setting up a ‘virtual’ patient participation group so that you can have your say on our services and offer your suggestions to make things better. We will email you from time to time to ask questions, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you received, to let you know what is happening in the surgery and ask your views about important issues and developments. We realise that our patients lead busy lives so it should only take 5-10 minutes for you to compose and send us your reply.
We hope to gather around a hundred patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, parents, workers, teens to retired folk, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups, male or female – you just need an email address.
If you are happy for us to contact you by email, please let us know by sending your details to
admin@abbeymedical.com and shape the future!
Common patient questions and answers
Q Why are you asking people for their contact details?
A We would like to be able to contact people occasionally to ask them questions about the surgery and how well we are doing to identify areas for improvement.
Q Will my doctor see this information?
A This information is purely to contact patients to ask them questions about the surgery, how well we are doing and ensure changes that are being made are patient focused. If your doctor is responsible for making some of the changes in the surgery they might see general feedback from patients.
Q Will the questions you ask me be medical or personal?
A We will only ask general questions about the practice, such as short questionnaires.
Q Who else will be able to access my contact details?
A Your contact details will be kept safely and securely and will only be used for this purpose and will not be shared with anyone else.
Q How often will you contact me?
A Not very often, we will conduct a full survey once a year however we may contact you periodically to ask your opinion on significant developments affecting the practice.
Q What is a patient group/patient participation group?
A This is a group of volunteer patients who are involved in making sure the surgery provides the services its patients need.
Q Do I have to leave my contact details?
A No, but if you change your mind, please let us know.
Q What if I no longer wish to be on the contact list or I leave the surgery?
A We will ask you to let us know by email if you do not wish to receive further messages.
